With strong public support, the restoration of Old Main begins.

Razorback runners bring home Championship of America trophies from the prestigious Philadelphia Penn Relays.
The largest private gift in the history of the U of A, $8 million, is donated to the Engineering Excellence Campaign. (This gift was eclipsed in 1998 with the generous donation of $50 million from the Walton Family Charitable Trust.)
